Salvation

Written by Deborah. Posted in Backsliding, Repentance, Salvation

salvationIt is not by accident that you are reading this now. God has a plan
and a purpose for your life according to Jeremiah 29:11. No matter what you have done or how many times, God is waiting for you
to call upon Him for mercy and grace. There are consequences for every choice we make in this life. But we can make sure of our eternity by calling out to God in the name of Jesus.

John 3:7-8 “Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

THE NEW BIRTH PROCESS:

1. Realize that all have sinned and need a Savior.
Romans 3:23, “All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
1 John 1:8, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.”

2. Repent of sin.
Luke 13:3, “Unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”
Acts 3:19, “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.”

3. Confess your sins to God.
1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Romans 10:10, “With the mouth confession is made to salvation.”

4. Forsake sin.
Isaiah 55:7, “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord…for He will abundantly pardon.”

5. Believe in the finished work of Christ on the cross.
John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

6. Receive Christ by faith.
John 1:12, “As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name.”

7. Proclaim Jesus as Lord.
Romans 10:9, “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Romans 10:13, “For whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

THE WORD ON SALVATION:

John 6:47, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life.”   John 14:6, “Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Acts 16:30-31, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved? So they said, ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.’”
Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
1 John 1:7, “The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”
Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.”

Accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is the most
important decision you will ever make. Please do not ignore the “gentle tugs of the Holy Spirit at the door of your heart”…and accept Him today simply by believing and praying the following prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

You said in your Word that “Whosoever shall call upon the name
of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13). I am calling on You
now to save me. I know I am a sinner. I repent of my sin now
and ask for Your forgiveness. Please come into my heart now
as I ask you to become my Lord and Savior. I confess with my
mouth and believe in my heart that God raised Jesus from the
dead for my salvation. Thank you for forgiving me and and
cleansing me from sin and making me righteous before You.

"Deborah imparted the tools, skills and understanding I needed to grow in the spirit. In this day's devotional, God also spoke to me of the hard lessons we all need to learn when "He" or your "Mentor" (such as Deborah) in my case, speaks into our life that we must choose to grow...

"...As a result of obedience in the midst of her desert experiences, I believe God has filled Deborah with wisdom that we would all do well to take to heart. Do you ever ask yourself why you seem to end up in the same situation over and over again? Why you fear the future, or are frustrated with relationships?...."
